So best is subjective, but these are definitely MY favorite sugar cookies ever! And they quickly became a favorite for my whole family and friends! They are so quick and easy to make so definitely try them out!
Remember those store-bought cookies that everyone loved in elementary school? Someone would always bring them for birthdays, pizza parties, end of the year parties, etc. They were soft in texture and had a whole lot of that sugary frosting on top. These are like those, but better! Kind of like the adult version of a childhood favorite. Chewy and soft in texture, and not too sweet in taste. The best part? You can control how much frosting goes on them! I used to scrape the frosting off those cookies because it was toooo much.
These cookies are soft, chewy, and slightly crumbly in texture. There are a few key ingredients that make these cookies above and beyond:
•Vegetable shortening: Vegetable shortening has a higher melting point than butter.
Why is this beneficial? Because it prevents the cookies from spreading as much,
helping the cookies hold their shape. It also creates more air bubbles, allowing the
cookies to be lighter in texture and rise more.
•Cornstarch: Cornstarch interrupts gluten development, allowing for a softer end
result.
•Brown sugar: Brown sugar creates moist and chewy cookies due to its higher
moisture content than white sugar
•Apple cider vinegar: the acid helps the cookies become more tender and prevents
browning, so they remain light in color.
I hope you guys try these cookies out! I have made them so many times! They make the perfect gift for friends or a fun activity to do with friends! ENJOY!
