Sweet and salty are a match made in heaven. The combination is great in chocolate, cookies, salsa, ribs, etc. So why not do the same with guac?
Sweet and salty go well together because of the way our brain perceives taste and how our taste buds work. To simplify, our taste buds have cells that have receptors. Receptors get "excited" when something binds to them. In this case, there are receptors for salt and sugar. And some of the receptors actually get excited when both salt AND sugar bind to them! This means that more signals are sent to the brain and more taste is perceived! This makes the brain happy! :) Which is one reason we love things salty and sweet.
I was inspired to make this because, well I was craving tacos and got some cheap avocados more Aldi that were about to go bad and a mango from home. People add pineapple to salsa all the time, so why not switch things up? It turned out really well and I highly recommend.
