This recipe is for those times when you want something fancy but cannot afford to spend $60+ on a meal for yourself and maybe your special person. At half the cost, literally half it cost $30 for me, you can make enough crab cakes to supply you for the week! Scroll below for some ideas to do with your leftovers!
These crab cakes are delicious! If you'd like, which I highly recommend, coat them all with extra breadcrumbs for an extra crunch. You will be in love! But if you're trying to be on the healthier side, leave out the breadcrumbs and replace with half the amount in shredded parm and 1 tbsp cornstarch. Regardless of what you do though, you will not be disappointed!
Ideas for leftovers:
- Make a crab "burger" with butter lettuce, onions, leftover sauce, tomatoes - for a homemade "Krabby patty"
- Put together a salad and top it with your crab cakes
- Chop up some crab cakes, mix with cheese and make a crab melt!
- Make lettuce wraps
- Add to fried rice
I recommend doubling the sauce recipe because honestly, you'll want extra to put on literally everything!
Crab Cakes
Servings: 4-6| Prep time: 10 minutes| Total time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
· 16 oz crab meat (2 containers, I used claw meat and lump crab)
· 1 tsp miso paste
· 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
· 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
· 2 eggs
· ¼ tsp smoked paprika
· ¼ tsp onion powder
· ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
· 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs (+ more if you want to coat each cake with them)
· 1 tsp honey
Sauce
· 1/3 cup mayo
· 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
· 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
· ½ tsp dry dill
· ½ tsp Cajun seasoning
· Juice of ½ lemon (or to taste)
· Salt to taste
Directions
1. Mix all of the ingredients above in a large bowl (not including sauce ingredients). TIP: mix everything EXCEPT for the eggs and breadcrumbs and taste for seasoning (add a pinch more salt than what you think is good). Add eggs once seasoned to your liking.
2. Make 10-12 round patties. I form balls first then flatten on parchment paper.
3. OPTIONAL: coat each patty with extra breadcrumbs to make an extra crunchy exterior.
4. Heat cast iron or your favorite pan to medium-high with ½ inch of canola oil (or any high heat oil).
5. Press patties down into oil and cook until golden brown on each side and heated throughout (depending on thickness 2-3 minutes each side).
6. While cooking patties mix ingredients for the sauce and taste for seasoning to your liking.
7. Let cool for 5 minutes, serve with sauce on the side and ENJOY!
