Bulgogi

Bulgogi has always been a favorite of my family's. Its savory, spicy, and a little sweet, the perfect combination of flavors. Paired with the acidity of kimchi 😋😋😋 literally SO GOOD!! This recipe is so easy! Keep reading for substitutions.

Asian pears add flavor to this dish as well as tenderizes the meat. Asian pears have an enzyme that tenderizes the protein, without denaturing it. It is important to not leave the meat marinating for too long when using ingredients that tenderize meat because the protein can break down too much, resulting in meat that is actually tougher.

This recipe is so easy and tastes amazing! I have missed Korean BBQ so much, and even tho this isn't the same, it definitely hit the spot!

Substitutions:

•No Asian pears: use 1/2 regular pear or 1/2 an apple

•No gochujang paste: use sriracha, or 4 tbsp red chili flakes, 2 tsp honey, and 2 tbsp soy sauce mixed together.

•Vegatarian: replace pork with mushrooms or extra firm tofu. Marinate the same way as stated.

•Vegan: use agave, brown sugar, or maple syrup instead of honey and extra firm tofu or mushrooms instead of pork.

Make this for a dinner party or grill out with friends and family and ENJOY!!
