5-minute Shrimp

If you're in need of a quick meal, this is the meal for you! It is super quick and easy to make and tastes amazing! Shrimp cooks really fast because it has a higher surface area to volume ratio, meaning that theres more surface of the meat in contact with the pan. This, and the fact that you don't have to cut anything, allows it to be prepared very fast (if you buy it deveined that is). I recommend buying from stores like Aldi, it is significantly cheaper.

Many people, mostly students, get fast food because they think it is faster, but in actuality, if you have the ingredients, cooking at home can be faster, like with this recipe! As long as you have a plan when you go grocery shopping and get what you need. I highly recommend everyone try to limit how often they go out and challenge you to try cooking more for yourself. It will allow you to know what you are putting in your body.

Shrimp is super healthy. It is very low in calories and fat content and high in protein. Most of the, very minimal, fat in shrimp consists of omega-3 fatty acids, which are very good for you!

Omega-3 fatty acids have numerous health benefits. They have been shown to reduce risk of heat disease, stroke, depression, dementia, the list goes on and on!

Ingredients:

-Shrimp (deveined, shell off)

-Olive oil

-Salt

-Whole garlic clove

-Onion powder

-Cumin

-Paprika

-Cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions:

Heat olive oil in pan on medium. Add whole garlic and roast a few seconds and then crush in spatula when tender. Toss in shrimp and add salt, onion powder, cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper (a few shakes of each should be good). Mix around and should be fully cooked in 5 minutes, on medium-high heat! Enjoy with rice, in a salad, with pasta, etc.
